Buying a Tractor from China: 7 Things to Check Before You Order

2026-10-15

Buying a tractor from China involves more than choosing horsepower and comparing prices. The right tractor should suit your field conditions, work with your implements and come with dependable support. Here are seven points to confirm before placing an order.

  1. Define Your Farming Needs

Start with the crops you grow, your soil and terrain, and the jobs the tractor will perform. Will you mainly use it for plowing, tilling, planting or transport? Which implements will you need?

Horsepower is only part of the decision. Traction, working speeds and lifting capacity also matter when matching a tractor to your farm.

  1. Verify the Exact Specifications

Ask for a written specification sheet covering the engine brand and model, drive type, transmission gears, PTO speeds and hydraulic lifting capacity.

Tractors with the same horsepower can have different configurations. Compare each specification and make sure the agreed configuration is recorded in your order documents.

  1. Inspect the Chassis and Key Components

Request clear photos and specifications of the axles, chassis and three-point linkage. These components affect load handling, implement operation and durability.

  1. Confirm Implement Compatibility

Before ordering, check each implement’s required tractor power, hitch category, PTO speed and connection, hydraulic requirements and weight.

If you plan to use existing implements, share their specifications with the supplier. Confirming compatibility early helps avoid connection problems or insufficient lifting capacity after delivery.

  1. Compare Complete Quotations

Check exactly what each quotation includes: the tractor, optional equipment, implements, spare parts, packing and shipping.

Confirm the agreed trade term and destination, and ask which costs remain payable by the buyer. Compare quotations based on the same specifications and scope of supply to understand the total purchase cost.

  1. Understand After-Sales and Spare Parts Support

Ask which operating manuals, maintenance instructions, remote technical assistance and spare parts services are available. Clarify warranty coverage and the process for requesting support.

If there is no local dealer, confirm whom you will contact, how technical issues will be assessed and how replacement parts will be identified and shipped.

  1. Agree on Inspection and Delivery Arrangements

Confirm what can be provided before shipment, including photos of your tractor, test-run videos, inspection records and container-loading photos.

Agree on the inspection process and confirm the delivery schedule based on your order configuration, production arrangements and shipping availability.
